Its Time to Take Charge of More Than Just Your Health
If you are reading this you value physical health and wellness. But what about your personal well being and other aspects of your life? When was the last time you seriously took a look at your marriage, your faith and happiness? From personal experience I have learned that I need to be in better control of these three things. This is how I reached this conclusion.
Marriage
I have been struggling with my marriage for some time now. You need to work hard in order to be happy with your spouse. My husbands job takes up a lot of his time and it has made a negative impact on our marriage. Sometimes I don’t think his priorities are in the right place. If your husband isn’t home much like mine, it is time that you took charge of family business and decisions. I have gained a new level of confidence now that I have taken charge.
I can not rely on my husband as much as I used to. I plan the meals, make sure appointments get scheduled, do the grocery shopping by myself and have taken over household repairs. Taking on more responsibility has made me feel better about me, however I don’t think it is helping my marriage. We are seeking professional help. If this sounds familiar you should do the same thing.
Faith
I have always had a healthy personal relationship with God. I attend mass every Sunday and pray with my children every day. I catch up on Bible readings as much as I can. Praying and meditating helps me unwind and deal with stress. When something stressful comes up in my life sharing it with the Lord makes me feel better. I have put my trust in Him. He is in control of my life and no matter what he has a purpose and a reason for everything. Have you put God in charge of your life?
Happiness
I have been battling depression ever since I was a teenager. I compare it to a roller coaster. Sometimes years will go by and I will be heading up the hill. When I was in my twenties I climbed a big hill and felt like my life was perfect. By the time I reached 30 I headed strait down. I have learned that I need to do more for myself in order to feel better and find happiness. When was the last time you had “me time?” Sometimes we get so busy taking care of others that we forget about ourselves. Find out what truly makes you happy and do something about it. I am the happiest when surrounded by other people and as a stay at home mom of small children I crave adult conversation. When my neighbors are outside with their children I go out and visit. During the school year I am involved in the local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) chapter. What makes you happy?
I challenge you to examine your marriage, faith and happiness. You need to be in charge of your personal life. When roadblocks get in your way or you find yourself stressed out do something about it. There are endless possibilities for a strong confident woman.
